Bonus Challenge #1

Hey guys, welcome to Following Him!

Since where the location in Egypt is not in the Bible, and only for the purpose of this Walk we will say that they went to the Egyptian held territory just outside of Herod’s Kingdom.  If you want to walk all the way to Heliopolis, where tradition holds that they went, it will be a bonus of 400 miles (200 miles out and 200 miles back).  Don’t worry about falling behind, this isn’t a race.  Plus, you can pick up right where you left off in 80 days.  Which actually is about, give or take, the time estimated for His stay in Egypt, based on the time between the Slaughter of the Innocents and Herod’s death.  Throughout the New Testament, it is mentioned many times that Jesus fulfilled what was written in the Old Testament. During this time of bonus walking you might wish to contemplate all of those times that Jesus’ birth is mentioned in the Old Testament. Here are a few to get you started.

Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 11:1 – And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Jeremiah 31:15 – Thus said the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Hosea 11:1 – When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

Micah 5:2 – But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
