Only three nights left until the complete darkness of a new beginning. As we move through the phases of grief we begin to bargain. God, if you save me then I will… We are bargaining and trying to get out of something that is best for us – something wonderful and miraculous! It is like a child not wanting to go to bed, as if this play time is the only playtime he will ever have. Just as sleep is not the end, neither is physical death. It is a time to return home. As we think of home, we tend to think of our physical home.
Home is not just the structure of your house. It is the safety and security. It is shade in the summer and shelter from the cold of winter. It is light in the darkness. It is clean water whenever you need it. It is a comfortable bed. It is a cozy nest to return to at the end of a long day of work. Our home is a physical glimpse of our Heavenly home.
“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also. Where I go, you know, and you know the way.” – John 14: 1 – 4
But what else is your home? Home is family. Not just the people that you live with but family in all the ramifications of the word: the family we are born into, the ones we marry into and the ones we pick for ourselves. These are all family. The one thing that makes a family is the support and love that we feel when we are at our most vulnerable. God made families to reflect His forgiving and unconditional love.
Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! – 1 John 3: 1
We are all God’s family. Look around at everyone that is a part of your home. See them, really see them and appreciate them as the special gifts that they truly are.
Please join me in prayer.
“I come to you, my God, with a grateful heart. Thank You, O Lord for surrounding me with your unconditional Love and Divine Acceptance. Thank You, O Lord for showering me with all your sacred blessings. Please open my heart so that I am truly grateful for all that you have done, are doing and will do, now and forever. I am grateful for my home, and all that that word entails. I am grateful for my family, both the physical and my spiritual family. I am grateful that I have a home in Heaven with You. I am grateful for Physical Death because that is how I return to You. I am grateful for Your Love. For all these things – Thank You, O Lord. Amen.”
Please meditate and listen to God.
Peace be with you.
