The moon is still bright, still closer to full than new. Just looking at it fills you with the sense of being part of a greater whole. But what part? How big a part? God gave us the gifts of reason and sense of personal responsibility. When reason turns inward becoming nitpicky; personal responsibility becomes self-importance; both are pride.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. – Proverbs 16:18
These words are meant to teach, learn from others’ mistakes so that you do not make them yourselves. If you look around you will notice that when things go bad people lament, “Why would God let this happen?” But when things are good you usually hear, “Yay! I did it!” This is pride because the reality is the exact opposite. When something good happens it is a gift of God because all that God made is good. When something bad happens, it is because we have free will and the ‘butterfly effect’ is in full swing. God does not stop our free will, as we discussed before. Blaming God and congratulating ourselves is pride.
That is not to say that you cannot feel good about something that you have achieved with the gifts and talents that God has given you. This good feeling is what points you in the right direction. But to eliminate God from your achievement is pride.
Take the gift of reason and use it to find the truth so that you might have true faith. Use your gift of personal responsibility to own up to your mistakes, take care of yourself and your family, do your job to the best of your ability. Take responsibility for your destiny. God gave everyone a gift, a gift that they need and within that gift is your destiny.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29: 11
Everyone seems to think that God’s gifts have to be for famous people, like being an Olympian or a great musician or even a beautiful model. Those are not the gifts everyone gets because not everyone has the same destiny. Maybe the gift you get is being the best burger dresser in the world but people don’t celebrate that. But you see, that doesn’t matter, because God knows what we don’t. He knows that because you are so good at your job that your fast food burger was so well put together, the lettuce, tomatoes and mustard where in such a perfect ratio that when someone ate it, it gave them an idea. That idea changed the world. With your gift you helped to change the world.
What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled”; and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith. – James 2: 14 – 18
As much as we all hate our jobs and want to quit, or tell ourselves that if only we had more money or whatever then life would be great. Forget that, what we need to do is find out where our gifts lie and run with it! Don’t go looking with what you want to do, move the pride out of the way and find out who you are and then you will know what you can do and take responsibility for doing it. Everybody wants to be a rich and famous, but why? They won’t be any closer to their destiny even if they do achieve it. Your destiny is nothing to be played with. Find out what you love and will help others – makes you happy and that is what you need to do. If you can get paid for it all the better. Don’t take a job for the money and don’t strive for the stupid famous trap. Let go of pride and find your destiny, what you were put on this earth to do, and then and only then will you find happiness.
“Father, please instill my work with the joy and harmony of the blessings that I have received, so that through it, others may realize their own gifts from you. Amen.”
Please join me in prayer.
“I come to you, my God, with a grateful heart. Thank You, O Lord for surrounding me with your unconditional Love and Divine Acceptance. Thank You, O Lord for showering me with all your sacred blessings. Please open my heart so that I am truly grateful for all that you have done, are doing and will do, now and forever. I am grateful for my gift. I am grateful that I have a destiny. I am grateful for the adventure to find what my gift is and to find a way to utilize it to fulfill who You wish me to be. I am grateful for Your Forgiveness. I am grateful for Your Love. For all these things – Thank You, O Lord. Amen.”
Please meditate and listen to God.
Peace be with you.
