The moonlight is almost half gone. Yet, while the moon still holds more light than it will for the rest of the month therefore we turn our minds to a more glorious light, the light of love and compassion. God gives us the gifts of love and compassion for us to share with others. If we do not share them then they turn in upon us and become self-pity, fear of rejection and envy.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. – James 3:16
All advertising is geared on envy. Look at this new shiny thing that all the cool kids have. You don’t have one? So you aren’t cool, are you? Even worse is the Christmas advertising saying that something is a great gift and while you are at it you should get one for yourself. Why be left out? Advertising is envy. The reality TV of what celebrities are doing and what they have is envy. The original sin was envy!
Adam and Eve were happy in Eden, until they wanted something that they were not.
The serpent said to the woman, “You won’t surely die, for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” – Genesis 3: 4 – 5
Eve wanted to be like God. If she had realized that to be Eve was a great thing, she would have been content. Instead she reached for more than was possible to have. That created unrest, unhappiness and envy. As soon as the serpent put that idea out there, she allowed herself to be off balance and she fell. Adam likewise knew the same thing and reached out too, and he fell.
I am not saying you should not strive in your life, and just be content with your lot in life. What I am saying is realize what you are reaching for. Will it bring you closer to God? Will it make the world a better place? Will it help to bring more love and compassion into the world? Or will it give you momentary fleeting pleasure followed by crashing disappointment?
Please join me in prayer.
“I come to you, my God, with a grateful heart. Thank You, O Lord for surrounding me with your unconditional Love and Divine Acceptance. Thank You, O Lord for showering me with all your sacred blessings. Please open my heart so that I am truly grateful for all that you have done, are doing and will do, now and forever. I am grateful for the love and compassion You give to me. I am grateful for the ability to share that love and compassion with others. I am grateful for Your Forgiveness. I am grateful for Your Love. For all these things – Thank You, O Lord. Amen.”
Please meditate and listen to God.
Peace be with you.
