Full Moon – Day 14

Our Father, You created the lesser light to rule the night.  This light reflects the sun as we should reflect You, the Son.  Please let its light shine down upon me, fill me with Your Holy Spirit!  So that I may remember that even in the dark of night You shower us with Your Light and Love.  Amen.

The glorious Full Moon!  Standing in the light of a full moon you can’t help but feel the majesty and wonder and awe!  The all-encompassing feeling of sublimity that just sends shivers through your whole being!  And that, my dear friends, is the smallest taste of the gift of awe.

It is most of the times referred to as Fear of God. But that is a mistranslation and I will tell you why.  One, it is a mistranslation of the Hebrew, meaning awe or reverence.  And secondly, God is Love.  Fear is the opposite of Love.  And here it is worth repeating:

He who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. – 1 John 4: 16 – 19

Awe is a true gift!  To be able to be filled the wonder and astonishment in the realization of God’s mere existence is a priceless gift!

Take a long, slow, deep breath, see the abundance of light even in the depth of night, knowing that you are being showered with abundance from God, your cup truly overflows.  Think of all the things, people, a world of delight that God has given to you.  Think of how you have been forgiven, thousands and thousands of times.  Think of how much more you will be given in heaven.

Take another long, slow, deep breath, feel the radiance of the Moon reflecting the Sun and know the kinship as you too are radiant and reflect the Son. In your words, deeds and even your thoughts you can be a beacon of God’s light in this world, just as the Moon is.

Take another long, slow, deep breath, breath in the miraculous wonder that is God.

Please join me in prayer.

“I come to you, my God, with a grateful heart.  Thank You, O Lord for surrounding me with your unconditional Love and Divine Acceptance.  Thank You, O Lord for showering me with all your sacred blessings.  Please open my heart so that I am truly grateful for all that you have done, are doing and will do, now and forever.  I am grateful for the gift of awe.  I am grateful for everything that you do for me, both what I notice and what I don’t.  I am grateful for the opportunity to be the Moon to Your Son while I am here on earth. I am grateful that I can feel the awe and majesty of Your presence.  I am grateful for Your Love.  For all these things – Thank You, O Lord.  Amen.”

Please meditate and listen to God.

Peace be with you.
