The light of the Moon reveals half of its total glory. Just as we now see that the trees aren’t the only thing in this moonlit world. We can see the pigeons and squirrels. We think of the fish and the birds, the wild animals and our pets.
God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky.” God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good. – Genesis 1: 20 – 25
We think of ourselves as part of the animal kingdom, but like this Moon it is only part of the whole story.
God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.
God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. – Genesis 1: 26 – 31
Now God created men and women in His image. Do we look like Him? No. He created us in the image of Love. That is our true nature. This transitory flesh if but a shell that we live within, like our house. It is how we can perceive the world around us. But we are in His Image so we may have a physical aspect but we are still beings of Love. Our true spiritual selves. Like this First Quarter Moon our physical aspect only tells part of the story. The important part of the story is still illusive, still to be sought, still to be quested for.
If we were only animals we would not be in God’s Image. If we were only animals He would not have set us to love the earth, to have dominion over Creation. The original meaning of the word was not dominion as we now think of the meaning, the original word meant to husband, or take care of. Do we take care of the earth and all its inhabitants? Do we take care of the earth as a sacred duty. Do we show God that we appreciate it?
Please join me in prayer.
“I come to you, my God, with a grateful heart. Thank You, O Lord for surrounding me with your unconditional Love and Divine Acceptance. Thank You, O Lord for showering me with all your sacred blessings. Please open my heart so that I am truly grateful for all that you have done, are doing and will do, now and forever. I am grateful for the plants and animals. I am grateful for the earth and the stars. I am grateful for the vast infinity of the Universe and beyond. I am grateful that my physical being is not all that I am. I am grateful that there will always be something more for me to discover about my spiritual side so that through it I can learn more of you. I am grateful for Your Love. For all these things – Thank You, O Lord. Amen.”
Please meditate and listen to God.
Peace be with you.
