I have always been intrigued by other forms of prayer. Now everyone is familiar with singing and dancing before the Lord. And how David composed song prayers in the Pslams. But what about painting and drawing? What about sculpture? I’m not talking about professional church decoration, but you actually making an art prayer.
Some people are more visually oriented and some are just not good with expressing the way they feel in words. Words are not the only ways to pray, as previously discussed. So how does one go about praying with art?
There are many things you can do. You can make a drawing about how you feel and what you wish to express to God. You can make a sculpture that shows God what you feel about the situation you want His help with. God already knows so you don’t have to use words or worry that you art piece isn’t good enough. It is just between the two of you and no one else.
Art is communication. You are trying to express through paint, pencil, clay, or crayon, your thoughts and dreams, fears and hopes. That you express them to God is what is important and if you are one of those people who say, “Yeah, I not really a pray-er.” Maybe this is the prayer vehicle you need.
Peace be with you.
