Make a bonfire
Kinda obvious and as you’ve surmised by reading this blog, I think every holiday could use some fire! Fire of love, fire of life, fire of the burning bush, the sacred purity of fire!
Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit… Acts 2:3-4
when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from its midst, by the spirit of justice, and by the spirit of burning, Isaiah 4:4
John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire, whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Luke 3:16-17
Don’t quench the Spirit; 1 Thessalonians 5:19
If you can’t have a bonfire, at least light a candle.
Make a wind chime
The Holy Spirit came in a rushing wind! You can make it out of a stick with old keys or sea shells or even mason jar rings tied to it. You can make it out of a kit with wood and metal tubes. You can buy one and paint a Holy Spirit image on it. Just make a “joyful noise unto the LORD!”
Indecently, remember that is how the clinking glasses after a toast came to be. It is a joyful noise asking God to join in the festivities. Remember that next time you Cheers!
Eat Buffalo Wings
They’re hot, like fire and they are wings like the wind and birds. I know, kinda weird but people eat lamb on Easter for Jesus’ sacrifice, bird wings for Pentecost aren’t any different. The recipe is in the Pentecost Recipes post.
Learn about Another Religion
Christianity is to be preached to all nations, but will they listen? Saint Patrick preached to the Celts and they listened, there was not even one martyr. Why? He knew where they were coming from. He knew what they felt and what they held dear. The Holy Spirit allowed the apostles to speak in other tongues, why? So that all may receive the Good News. You can’t explain your religion to anyone if you don’t have a frame of reference to what they believe. Case in point there is now a Hindu god named Jesus. Why? Because they were told that Jesus was the Son of God. So the Hindus added Him to their pantheon – and He still is part of it today. We not only need to get our facts straight but we need to know their facts as well.
Peace be with you.
